    The build I'll be following with my combat medic. The idea is to be able to provide good healing, while still being able to dish out a good ammount of damage.
    I didn't pick the T7 skill as it just doesn't seem usefull to me. Yes, it's an instant heal, and yes it doesn't cost anything to use it, but the healing is quite low and it's on a 21s cooldown.
    - Using the basic medial probe I'm able to heal someone for 5 times as much during the same timeframe.
    - The advanced medical probe heals for 8 times as much, with half the cooldown (12s).
    - The kolto bomb heals for half the health, but is an AOE that heals up to 3 party members and only has a 6s cooldown.
    So, bottom line, unless I'm totally missing something, the T7 Bacta Infusion is totally useless.

    Instead, I picked up Grav Round, wich is a high damage blast that also has a sunder armor effect. Much more usefull in my opinion.

    So is this something you are considering in an OH situation? The reason I ask is because you chose to keep out First Responder, which I haven't really touched Republic yet at all (nor the Mercenary counterpart), but the 5% Alacrity seems almost too good to miss when you are primarily healing. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!

    It's possible I'm not understanding perfectly what alacrity does. It will only lower activation time and channel time, right?
    My AoE healing power is an instant cast, so isn't affected.
    My medical and advanced medical drones have a cast time of 2s and 1.5s. They are already pretty fast to cast.

    Could be I change my mind after some more gameplay, my trooper is still only level 14 at the moment.

    I'd imagine it would still help tremendously. Just looking at some of the fights I've tanked, there have been encounters where so much damage is coming in (during some of those uninterrupted moves) where as much as an extra .5 seconds is the difference between life and death. I'd ask Niq for more information as he's actually experiencing end game right now, but I anticipate some of the hard / nightmare bosses really dishing out some punishment to the point where HPS is vital.

    I'll take it into consideration then. So far I've only done The Esseles, in which I've been able to finish without a single death on my team.
    I'll have to see how the commando fares as healer in the Heroics and Flashpoints once I reach Taris.

    Alacrity was confusing to me as well, after some researchhowever I found out if you can get a bonus to it via a talent point its best to do so.

    Alacrity, if I'm not mistaken (correct me Niq, you're our healing expert), decreases the cost time of abilities. I'm sure there's a cap within reason, so my first goal would be to soft cap both Crit and Alacrity before focusing on your healing stats (not sure which takes care of that for the ranged healing classes...power + willpower for sage/sorc)

    After doing some more healing in flashpoints and heroics I can see the reasoning and logic behind taking alacrity. Tomorrow I'll be revising this build.




    Also, a little search around alacrity came up with this:

    Alacrity Rating – Decreases activation time for all abilities. This does NOT affect the global cooldown, and only reduces the time on casted abilities.
    Basically, if you’re familiar with the Haste attribute from WoW, Alacrity is pretty much the same. From the latest testing by players, Alacrity does in fact appear to be reducing the global cooldown (GCD) as well, but it’s still unconfirmed. To get a 1% reduction in ability cast time, you’ll need 25 alacrity rating. Note that alacrity rating is different that alacrity percentage! So for example, +150 Alacrity Rating would give you 10% Alacrity, at least 50% more than a +75 relic could possibly give. Global Cooldown (if affected at all) would be reduced to 1.36 seconds from 1.5 seconds. If you get 20 alacrity at level 50 it would give you roughly 13% quicker ability cast time.

    Default Dangerous Build

    The only place this build is viable as a healer is in a Flashpoint. The lack of an 'oh shit' button instantly discredits this as a usable Ops build.
