Today unveiled the Jedi Knight progression video, viewable here: Star Wars: The Old Republic | Trailers
While this might answer some questions, how about what the skill trees look like? How about an idea of how much we progress on a per-level basis? Not to be a negative nancy about such things, I just really want to know!
On the positive side though, let's actually look at what the video shows us. One item that stands out above the rest due to the intense conversations we've had about this, lightsaber creation. If that won't pump you up, I don't know what will. You can view the discussion here.
Another item, and something that every MMO thrives on once we hit end game, gaining new armor. The video shows the progression of wearing some raggedy looking padawan armor, to getting fitted in some of the armor that Luke himself would be jealous of. That was really one of my favorite aspects of KoTOR, the end game plated robes, as the movies really failed to present them the way that some of the books cover art and other graphics did. To make things even more interesting, armor isn't tailored only to class, but advanced class as well, meaning that there won't simply be 8 different characters stylistically, but 16, something that WoW only wishes it produced. As we've all mentioned in the past, one of our biggest peeves at end game is that everyone looks the same, and everyone is kitted in the same gear once we've hit the plateau that is 'end-game'. While most games have a typical 5-6 classes and an end look that matched (with the exception of CoH, but that game never really had an end-game visual representation minus badges), 16 is a large number to be looking at (Considering all end game armor is using shared models in WoW, this is what I feel one of their biggest flaws is). I still haven't seen anything about customizing certain aspects of your gear, but hopefully a complete answer to that will be in updates to follows.
Also added into the video was a few additions to the Jedi Knight's skills. While a lot of these we've already heard about (considering most classes movesets have already been revealed in some sense or another), we are finally getting a visual representation. From moves like Force Charge and Lightsaber Throw, your ability to roleplay as a lightsaber totin', blaster smokin', Pazaak playing Jedi is really coming into fruition.
There's a shot to watch it without having to venture off the site. Enjoy!
