Thread: Hello All :)

I'm new here, and I must say it's quite a nice place. I'm really starting to get antsy about SWTOR!!

A little about me:

My first MMO was SWG, and since I'm a big fan of the Star Wars universe and story it kinda got me hooked. I was quite the noob at the time I played, but learned pretty fast with the help of some guild mates/ online friends. I started playing WoW about 4 months after release, and eventually started raiding in vanilla. I raided avidly through BC, Wolk, and started to do so in Cata, when I just hit the wall. It wasn't fun anymore.

I've been playing Rift a bit, just to pass the time until this one launches. I'm looking forward to Tanking in this game, but I've really only tanked a couple end game things on my druid in BC. Most of my experience is from a ranged dps/healing standpoint. I'm here to learn as much as I can about tanking in this game, and also to contribute information to the community as it becomes available to me.

Welcome, Naridius Hope you enjoy your stay here, as we're all desperately awaiting the release of this game. There's no way it won't be an instant hit.

I too mostly healed in MMO's until the last few years I played WoW, then I started tanking in a few other MMO's such as CoH/V. It's really a different outlook on the multiplayer experience.

My wow story is pretty much the same as yours. I quit after i killed the LK, it just got too boring and easy!

How is Rift by the way? I was thinking of giving it a go.

It's pretty unique, but fun. I had to try it (some of my long-time online friends started playing). Most of them are doing the end-game stuff right now. Mage callings are really underpowered right now compared to the rest of them damage wise. There is always something to do between questing, pvp, dungeons, invasions and Rifts. Basically it gives you the opportunity to level however you see fit. You get different tokens from the Rift events ( which are a near continuous spawn) which you can use to buy gear and gain faction points. The cool thing about it is that you can just ride up to a rift and join a public raid group, close the rift, then go back to questing,etc. My PC doesn't run better than minimal settings so i have serious fps issues with all the public groups,etc but the graphics are still very good. If you do decide to play, the advice I was given was "do as many Rifts as possible while leveling". By the time you get max level you will have saved up plenty of tokens and not have to rep grind (as much). This site should answer any questions and show you some things before you decide to buy it....it's kinda like wowhead for rift:

Oh and if you do decide to play Rift...we expect you quit when SWTOR launches!!!!!!

Some people are saying it's going to be better than SWTOR!

Don't worry i'll quit it haha. There's no force choke in rift! :P

i've just been watching a few videos of rift and the graphics are stunning! The UI is very nice as well. Also, the AOE loot thing is awesome!

I'm on Wolfsbane (US) Server with the same name Noridius. I'm def going to give it a semi-serious go once I get my new PC, may not play until then tho. If SWTOR comes out first then no dice haha!

Ah ok, i'm from the UK, but i'll roll on a US server so that i can play with you guys.

Is anyone else interested in playing Rift before SWTOR is released? We can form some sort of Jeditank guild XD

I did buy RIFT, but cancelled my account since I didn't have to much time to actually play. I loved the concept however, and might resubscribe in the future when I have a bit more time.

Indeed! Same thing inspired my Undead Shadow Priest for 5+ years too lol

However, i was planning on rolling defiant! The game has just finished patching and i don't know whether to roll on your server or a pvp server =/

I only went PVE because some old guildies started there, whatever you decide (There is plenty more to worry about while leveling anyway than getting ganked lol)
I'll be out of commission either way until I get my new PC ordered (it pains me to play with soo much lag), so try both!! I hope to have my new PC by the 2nd week of May since I'm using this quarter's bonus check on it :P Plus I'm leaving for vacation on Saturday for about 10 days Going to Vegas for a couple days, then back to my hometown for Easter,etc. If you just want to make a toon on my server let me know, I need to move my character to their newly merged guild <Nerfed>, and I can secure you an invite if you'd like.
