This week World Designer Jesse Sky talks us through building Flashpoints in The Old Republic.

"A Flashpoint is a galactic crisis, something so threatening that even the most stalwart heroes must bring allies. The Death Star was a Flashpoint. Luke and Obi-wan spent a few minutes LFG in the Mos Eisley Cantina where they enlisted the aid of Han Solo and Chewbacca. Together, they infiltrated a moon-sized battle station to rescue Princess Leia. Things didn't go quite as they expected; difficult choices were made along the way. That's a Flashpoint in a nutshell."

Ok maybe not but I can't possibly think of a better description of what a flashpoint is. *Seriously I can actually visualize Luke and Obi-wan shouting the LFG channel of Mos Eisley going.

"LF2M Smuggler and errr Hairy Smuggler."

If only that made the cut in the movies.

As you have probably guess this Friday's update is about those wondrous of things, Flashtpoints.

Jesse goes through:

What makes a Flashpoint so special.

I really enjoy this update. *It shows that Bioware are aware that dungeon runs are part and parcel of MMO's but that doesn't mean they can't improve on that. *Instead of presenting you with just hard bosses to kill, you are presented with a primary objective and the big tough guys are a by product of that objective. *We have to get to the bridge but it just so happens theres this big epic blob with three maracas in your path. *Theres only one solution. *You deliver the beat down on the blob. *(See what I did there. *Nevermind forget it.)
