OK, so what if you don't want to join a Guild - will you be able to do much of anything if you want to play solo?

Bioware states that the game will still be completely content rich even if playing solo. The main things you will be missing out of is end-game flashpoints.
If you don't mind playing in a group and strictly just want to stray from guilds, it hasn't been announced, but surely they will release some sort of 'Looking for Group' chat channel or function. It's far less likely you will find a good group, but anything is possible.

I'm glad that they will still allow solos to see certain content, even if they aren't doing group quests. I am a loner myself, although I still like the idea of joining a guild.
So wait, does this mean that you can do group quests solo?

If they are instanced, they will probably scale to your level. Kinda like how City of Heroes did their missions. Enter all by your self, and the game spawns a bunch of enemy's around your level with a few elites and a boss. Or enter with a full team of 8, and the game will spawn a very large group of enemy's, more elites, multiple bosses, etc...

There were advantages in terms of solo play with CoH, such as you didn't have to worry about gankers while doing a zoned quest (it's been about 2 years since I played CoH, can't remember what they were really called). On the flip side, however, it takes away a little bit from the challenge and PvP aspect of things. I'm torn, I suppose.

Well yeah, CoH doesn't have pvp servers, only pvp zones. Not that I mind, I never play on pvp servers anywway.

CoH also wasn't as PvP orientated as TOR is, which is a good thing. My Fire/Fire Tanker kinda sucked at PvP![]()

Speculations of that variety will be pretty much unknown until you actually play it yourself. I say that because skill varies from player to player. Some characters might be able to do a group quest solo, some might be able to do it with a companion, some might fail altogether. I'm sure the further you advance the more skill will come into play versus luck or predetermined class mechanics.

I for one only like to solo while I am leveling. That being said, I will group for a harder quest or maybe for some kind of harder "elite" mob. I think that the mechanics of this game and the quests will determine if this game is solo-able. With story-driven games, lot's of times the game itself determines if you group or not.
Well said. However I'm hoping that the majority of the game will allow me to play solo if that's what I'm in the mood for.

an article i read on darthhater by a chap that was given the chance to level a toon to 10 made it seem as though companions were key in solo leveling. it sounds as though these will be a pivotal part of the game in deciding in how and with whom you chose to level. for those of us who are in guilds, likely group leveling will be the way to go. if you chose to remain solo though, companions may just make it all the easier.
