Introduction
For the fourth installment of our Featured Guilds column (Wow, we're really pumping them out today...), I'd like to take the time to present [b]The Grey Order[b], a new guild that strives to immerse themselves in a journey like none other, and create a story that will in no doubt keep the members very entertained. The Grey Order is an EST US PvE guild with a very heavy focus on RP. I personally can't wait to see how their story unfolds!

The Grey Order
Hi Jallorn, we've found your guild on http://www.swtor/community/index.php and have taken a keen interest in your guild. Let's get started with a few basic questions to formally recognize your guild, and then move to the more in-depth stuff.

Some of us prefer to be the good guy, while others prefer to be on the darker side of things. What alignment are you looking to present this guild as?
We are good guys primarily, but like all factions we are humanoids, and so there is a fair amount of grey in with the light. Despite a willingness to dabble in the dark side, we are vehemently opposed to the Sith and all they represent.

Why did you choose to be Republic?
Mostly because the story behind the Grey Order was better than anything I could come up with for a Sith guild. Since we are an RP guild, it is important to have a dynamic and multifaceted backstory to make it easier for players to get into the story.

When looking for a guild as a raw recruit, one of the things I personally look for is a guild that fits my needs in terms of play style. For example, I would prefer a guild that is flashpoint oriented, but also enjoys a lot of heavy PvP outside of scheduled raid times. How would you say your guild functions on a day to day basis in terms of this?
Well, we are focused on providing a player driven story to provide a more freeform roleplaying experience in addition to the directed flashpoints. PvP may become a factor if we can line up a nemesis, but it is likely to be fairly minor and tied into the story.

Some games I've played have had good RP elements, while other suffered in this department. Considering the spectacular back story and following that Star Wars has to offer, I can heavily anticipate a lot of role play servers and guilds out there. What is your guilds take on RP?
We are a RP guild, so our purpose is, as I said, to provide an addition to the in game story elements.

All types of organizations have to have some form of branding or just a place to...well...organize. Do you have a website that we can look at? Does this website have any function other than guild recruitment?
At this point no, but we may create one in the future.

Some guilds I've seen have a rather militant structure in terms of their officers and members and how they correlate. What kind of structure does your guild have in effect? What are the terms of promotions?
Thus far undetermined, but given the Jedi origin of the Order, it is likely that the only ranks will be Member, and Council Member, and deference will be given to the most experienced, not the oldest, members.

I've seen restrictions when applying to guilds, and for the most part I agree with them. When looking for recruits, do you have any restrictions such as age, availability, other games played, etcetera?
Our only restriction is a desired level of RP quality. I myself have done relatively little with MMOs, as I find most of them to be tedious. The nature of TOR as story driven is what drew me in, and since the intention of the guild is to deepen the experience, the only thing that really matters is an ability to get into the story.

I would think that recruiting for a guild effectively in a game that isn't to be released for several months would be difficult. How have you been advertising for recruitment?
Well, so far I've put up an add on GiantITP.com, and I intend to place one up among the many on this site, but attracting a ton of members isn't really a primary goal. For now, I don't intend for the guild to have more than 50 members, as more members make it harder to maintain the story and story quality to an extent.

Guild policies vary from guild to guild. Could you enlighten us with how strict you would say your guild is and what kind of policies you have in place?
Issues will mostly be dealt with as they come up. I personally am pretty lenient, but I'm also a fan of the three strike method. The only hard and fast rule is that nonparticipation in the story equals the boot.

Here at JediTank.com, we encourage guild leaders to be as strong as they can be in terms of leadership skills and offer private forums for the leaders and officers of TOR guilds to be able to discuss interpersonal issues and bounce ideas. Is this the kind of thing you'd be interested in participating in?
It may be, but since I do not yet have any Council Members, such forums would be premature.
