This is a very exciting announcement, indeed. JediTank.com, after 1 month of being fully live, is moving over to virtual private server (VPS). This will eliminate all of those pesky timeouts we've been getting lately, as well as increasing the speed of load times significantly.
The moving process will take about a week (starting at the wee hours of March 7th (today)). The reason this process will take this long is to ensure minimal downtime as well as minimal content loss.
To elaborate on the process, we will be encouraging all users to avoid uploading content such as avatars or attachments effective immediately. This is to ensure that the file system doesn't change during the blackout period (for lack of better words) while the DNS resolves from one server to the other. Basically, once the new server is ready, I'll be able to access the site via the servers IP address, and will be uploading the file structure so that everything is prepared. Afterwards, I'll be shutting the forums down, downloading the forums database, and moving it over to the new site, all while the DNS resolves. The entire process will take about 1-2 hours on my part, and anywhere from 1-72 hours for the DNS to resolve.
With that being said, there is a 'chance' that the site will be offline for up to 3 days. It's a rare occurrence that it takes that long, as in most case it takes between 6-12 hours, but I'd hate to make promises that I can't keep.
I'll send out an email announcing the completion of this process, and apologize for any inconvenience.
Hope to see everyone again real soon!

The bulk e-mail actually went through without a hitch, which almost NEVER happens.
